The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of ED in a population of men aged 20–70 years old, and to determine the factors associated with ED in this age group. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted in a population of adult men aged 20–70 years old, which included patients who used a medication called sildenafil citrate (Viagra®) and had their ED treated in a private clinic. The study was conducted between November 2018 and December 2019 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. The study sample included patients who had sex with men (MSM), or non-sexually active patients, who had a history of ED. Data were collected using the Patient-Centric Evaluation Tool, and the patient-centered measure was the Global Assessment Questionnaire. The study included men who were not sexually active and were at the time of the study. Results: In the study, the prevalence of ED was 2.7% in all men aged 20–70 years old, which was significantly higher than in the general population and the incidence of ED was not significantly different between males and females. The prevalence of ED in the general population and in the sex population was higher than in the general population, and was found to be higher in patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) compared with non-sexually active patients. Conclusion: There is a need to consider the prevalence of ED in adult patients aged 20–70 years old and to consider the factors associated with ED in this population.
